Advocacy

We strive to be an effective voice for under-aged girls in the political arena.

Because girls under 18 are not allowed to vote, we strive to be a strong advocate for them at all political levels.

Girls' Health First is especially effective in organizing at the grassroots level to ensure girls' voices are amplified in legislation.

Advocacy

We stand with girls and advocate for girls, and we equip girls to advocate for themselves. Girls' Health First teaches girls how to make their voices heard, both to their legislators and their communities, and provides them opportunities to do so.

Girls' Health First is an initiative of concerned women and girls with diverse viewpoints that receives some support from Illinois Citizens for Ethics PAC. We seek to educate our communities and engage with public officials on important matters pertaining to the health and safety of girls. We invite you to join with us in this mission.

GHF is especially effective in organizing at the grassroots level to ensure girls' voices are amplified in legislation.

Protect Girls -

Save Parental Notice

Our current focus is working against the repeal of the Illinois Parental Notice of Abortion law. The repeal legislation (HB 1797 and SB 2190) is driven by wealthy special interest groups. If it passes, the repeal would empower sex predators and traffickers against minor girls by allowing them to easily bring minors for abortions to without any involvement of a caring adult to protect the victims' interests or to ensure appropriate aftercare.

72% of Illinoisians support keeping the Parental Notice of Abortion law, according to a recent poll by the Tarrance Group conducted in March 2021.

WHAT GHF ADVOCATES SAY

“Lobbying with Girls’ Health First has allowed me to specifically target the health of the mother as I speak with the state legislatures and senators. Many state legislators and senators were willing to hear us out because we specifically gave facts and evidence.  I hope that our lobbying efforts both help the health of girls and opens the hearts of the state politicians.”
